Roentgenographic Measurement of Kidney size in the Normal Korean Adult

Abstract
|
|
|
The Kidney size, the ratio between the Kidney length and the total height of the upper three lumbar vertebrae including intervertebral disc were measured on intravenous pyelograms of 117 males and 95 females in the normal Korean adult.
The following results were obtained:
1. The radiographic measurement of kidney size were as following figure(mm)
2. The size of kidney in male and left kidney was larger than in female and right one, but the right kidney was larger in 17.5% of the cases than left one.
3. The ratio between the kidney length and total height of the upper three lumbar vertebrae including intervertebral disc was as following figure.
4. In most cases, the length of kidney was larger than the total height of the upper three lumbar vertebrae including disc, and there was a relation between vertebral height and kidney length.
